Troubleshooting Iriun on Windows: Not Detected, Black Screen, Driver Issues
Follow this checklist to fix detection problems, black screens and driver issues on Windows 11/10. Prefer USB for the most stable connection.
Version: 2.9.5 • OS: Windows 11 / 10 • File:
IriunWebcam-2.9.5.exe
Quick check: Open Iriun on your phone first, then the Windows app, then your video app. If on Wi‑Fi, ensure both devices are on the same network (prefer 5GHz).
1) Checklist: not detected in apps
Start order: Phone app → Windows app → Video app (Zoom/Teams/OBS). Fully quit and reopen the video app.
Camera privacy: Windows → Settings → Privacy & security → Camera → Allow apps to access your camera.
USB for stability: Use a data‑capable USB cable. Try a different USB port.
Conflict check: Close other virtual camera tools (e.g., other webcam utilities) and background capture apps.
Reinstall (if needed): If Iriun Webcam device is missing in apps, see Clean reinstall.
2) Black screen or frozen image
- Confirm the phone app is open and active; switch rear/front camera in the phone app.
- On Wi‑Fi, connect both devices to the same SSID (prefer 5GHz). Move closer to the router.
- Close heavy downloads/streams; reduce resolution to 720p in your video app.
- Switch to USB for best stability.
3) USB connection problems
- Use a proper data cable; avoid charge‑only cables. Try a different port (USB 3.x preferred).
- Unlock phone; on iOS, tap "Trust this computer"; on Android, ensure data transfer is allowed.
- Restart the Iriun Windows app after connecting the phone.
- If still not detected, perform a clean reinstall.
4) Windows permissions & firewall
- Privacy: Settings → Privacy & security → Camera → Allow apps to access.
- Firewall (Wi‑Fi only): Allow Iriun through Windows Defender Firewall on private networks.
- Antivirus: Temporarily allow the installer/app if blocked; re‑enable after setup.
5) When to clean reinstall
If Iriun Webcam never appears as a camera device in any app or you suspect a corrupted install:
- Uninstall Iriun from Windows
- Remove the virtual camera in Device Manager
- Reboot your PC
- Install fresh and verify in Zoom/Teams/OBS
Follow the detailed steps in Uninstall & Clean Reinstall.
